Back in my day (mid 90’s), my dad made me breakfast every morning before school. About once a week that breakfast consisted of Eggo waffles, and life was great.
Then one day, I slept over at a friend’s house and we made some homemade waffles the next morning. That day marked the death of the Eggo waffle.
Ignorance is not bliss, I was shown the true ways of the waffle and have not eaten an Eggo waffle since that magical day.
Fast forward to today and I have finally made my first batch of waffles from scratch… and I have seen the waffle god! Gone are the days of reaching for that yellow box of Bisquick mix (whatever you are), I am now a believer in the one true waffle.
It really couldn’t be any easier… and the difference is well worth the minimal increase in effort. Hell, it’s not like you need any special ingredients, you should be able to find all of these in your cabinet on any given day.
Ok, I’m done pushing my waffle religion on you folks, you are free to choose your own faith.
Light and fluffy waffles with chunks of apples and a hint of cinnamon. Save some money… toss the eggo’s and make them yourself.
