Yep, I love fast food burgers… Wendy’s, BK, McD, you name it. This love affair takes place even though we’re missing some of the better burger places (In-N-Out, White Castle, Sonic). Do you know what’s the best part about these fast food places? You got it, the value menu. You spend $5 and walk out feeling stuffed like you just ate a freakin thanksgiving feast.
These days I only venture off into the fast food nation when it’s 11pm and I’m starving and lazy. I’ve realized that for $5 I can make 4 burgers that will feed me for 2-3 meals. Overall, I’m content with this change except for one thing; you lack the variety when you’re cooking at home. I get bored of burgers (even when they are amazingly jam packed with a BBQ bacon flavor).
Here’s my attempt to change it up slightly.
I mixed the meat with chipotle powder… and nothing else. I then cooked it on the stove and topped it with salsa and lettuce on a nice dense bun.
The chipotle chili powder gave it a nice kick. I also enjoyed the taste of the salsa with my burger, although I wish I could have found a more dry salsa (or had the desire to make some myself), this one was a little messy while eating.
Overall: B+ … juicy, spicy, and something different.
A spicy chipotle burger topped with salsa when you’re not quite in the mood for more ketchup or mustard.
